Directorate Overview
The Directorate of Property Management and General Services is a key administrative sector under the Directorate of Comparative Management Development, dedicated to ensuring operational excellence across the institution. The Directorate is structured into two primary functional units: the Property Management Team and the Maintenance and Deployment Team. Together, these teams oversee the strategic management of government assets and the efficient coordination of essential support services. Currently, the Directorate is supported by about 40 professional support and technical staff members who contribute their specialized expertise to maintain a high-standard environment and support the institution’s mission in teaching and learning.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Asset & Property Management: Ensuring the effective tracking, maintenance, and utilization of all college properties and resources.
- Essential General Services: Facilitating the daily teaching and learning process by managing critical support services, including facility maintenance, logistics, and office management.
- Operational Support: Providing essential general services to facilitate a seamless teaching and learning environment.
- Resource Efficiency: Implementing cost-effective strategies to optimize the use of government assets.
- Strategic Planning: Managing long-term arrangements and reforms to align property services with the college’s growth.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively identifying and addressing operational bottlenecks to improve service flexibility.
Major Activities
- Inventory & Warehouse Management: Coordinate the formal reception of legally acquired assets into the warehouse and manage the systematic issuance of materials required for institutional operations.
- Asset Stewardship & Monitoring: Conduct regular follow-ups and monitoring to ensure that all college staff are utilizing and maintaining institutional property responsibly and effectively.
- Maintenance & Rehabilitation: Restore damaged fixed assets to operational status through timely repairs, ensuring the longevity and continued service of institutional resources.
- Infrastructure Support: Manage and repair water and sewerage systems, and continuously improve electrical infrastructure while performing essential maintenance to resolve any technical faults.
- Fleet Management & Deployment: Oversee the fair and equitable deployment of vehicles to support the institution's logistical needs and operational activities.
- Facility Aesthetics & Sanitation: Maintain a clean, beautiful, and conducive working environment to enhance the overall well-being and productivity of the college community.
- Compliant Disposal Management: Execute the legal disposal of assets that are beyond repair, ensuring all processes strictly adhere to government regulations and institutional guidelines.
