Menelik II Medical and Health Science College offers a diverse range of postgraduate programs designed to build advanced competencies in key public health and medical science fields. Functions and Responsibilities

  • Expands postgraduate programs and aligns curricula with national human resource needs.
  • Reviews, approves, and evaluates new postgraduate curricula through academic committees and Senate processes.
  • Prepares annual short- and long-term plans, including research budgets and resource requirements.
  • Determines annual student intake capacity based on departmental data and available resources.
  • Monitors teaching, learning, and research activities to ensure compliance with guidelines and standards.
  • Reviews and updates postgraduate guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Ensures academic quality and maintains competency across all postgraduate programs.
  • Participates in national and international conferences to integrate best practices.
  • Organizes workshops, seminars, and academic dialogues on quality and global standards.

Available Postgraduate Studies

The postgraduate program of Menelik II Medical and Health Science College offers the following postgraduate studies. Regular programs are completed within two years, while weekend programs require three years of study.

  • MPH in Health Service Management (Regular and Weekend modality)
  • MPH in Public Health Nutrition (Regular and Weekend modality)
  • MPH in Monitoring and Evaluation (Regular and Weekend modality)
  • MPH in Epidemiology (Regular and Weekend modality)
  • MSc in Medical Microbiology (Regular modality)
  • MSc in Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health (Regular modality)

Application Requirements

  • Candidates with a minimum of a first Degree from a recognized university/college in health-related fields, Biology, or Medicine can apply for MPH in Health Service Management, Public Health Nutrition, Epidemiology, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • An applicant holding a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized university/college in the field of health (Psychiatric Professional, Psychiatry Nurse, General Practitioner / Medical Doctor, Public Health / Health Officer, Nursing, and Midwifery) can apply for MSc in Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health (ICCMH).
  • Candidates holding a first degree from a recognized University/College in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medicine can apply for Master of Science in Medical Microbiology.
  • Applicants must pass the Graduate Admission Test (GAT).
  • Applicants must submit two letters of reference from current work supervisors or teachers/professors, at least one of which must be from an academic referee.
